- Experience Non-Stop Action Across Mexico’s SkiesThe best combination wingshooting in Mexico
Duck hunting with Gabino’s Outdoor Adventures is classic wingshooting at its best—traditional decoy hunting in the coastal lagoons and inland wetlands of Sonora, Mexico. These rich habitats form part of the Pacific Flyway’s wintering grounds, attracting tens of thousands of ducks that migrate south each year. Hunting is available from November through early March, when bird numbers peak and conditions are ideal. With expert guides, liberal bag limits, and consistently high bird populations, every outing is carefully planned for maximum success.
Along the coast, hunters are set up in well-scouted lagoons and tidal marshes, where Pintails, American Wigeon, Redheads, Shovelers, and all three species of teal—Blue-winged, Green-winged, and Cinnamon—provide fast-paced shooting over decoys. In total, hunters can expect to encounter as many as 16 species of ducks throughout the season. The region also offers opportunities to pursue the Black Brant, a prized sea goose that migrates from Alaska to winter along Mexico’s coast. Coastal hunts are reached by custom-made airboats, which transport hunters to blinds nestled along the edges of productive lagoons—typically two hunters per blind for a comfortable and effective setup.
Inland, freshwater ponds and marshes provide excellent hunting for Mexican Ducks—often called Mexican Mallards—which respond readily to calls and decoys much like their northern cousins. These same areas also attract large numbers of teal, Black-bellied and other puddle ducks, creating a variety of classic shooting scenarios in beautiful wetland settings. Inland freshwater hunts are accessed by vehicle, followed by short walks to blinds positioned in pre-scouted areas where bird concentrations are highest.
Combined with the warm hospitality and comfortable accommodations that define Gambino’s Outdoor Adventures, it all adds up to a world-class duck hunting experience and a trip hunters remember for a lifetime.
